Friends of Friends is a Berlin-based project that celebrates and showcases creativity and inspiration through online and offline media, events, and collaborations. Learn about its history, mission, team, services, and works with like-minded partners and creatives around the world.
People-centered storytelling is the heart of Friends of Friends. Our long-form profiles offer insight into a disparate assortment of creatives and locations across the world.
- Acquaintances. Acquaintances are friends we’ve met a few times, either at parties or through mutual friends. We kinda sorta know their names and a little bit about their lives; however, we probably haven’t had any deep heart-to-heart conversations with them or spent much time with them one-on-one.
- Casual Friends. Casual or social friends are people we might befriend at the office, gym, or book club, for instance. We know more about the person than we would about an acquaintance; however, the foundation of the relationship often rests on shared environments or activities, like a sports team, a workplace, or a hobby group, Melewski explains.
- Close Friends. Close friends are our besties, the people in our inner circle. These are the friends that we bond with instantly, talk to often, share our struggles with, and confide our deepest darkest fears to.
- Lifelong Friends. Lifelong friends are the people we’ve been friends with since childhood. These are often the friends you can be your most authentic self with, says Melewski.
- The 13 Essential Friendship Traits. How much do you agree with each statement? I am trustworthy. I am honest with others. I am generally very dependable. I am loyal to the people I care about.
- Traits of Integrity. These qualities, represented by the first five traits on the list above, are related to core values held by most cultures—trustworthiness, honesty, dependability, loyalty, and, as an interrelated quality, the ability to trust others.
- Traits of Caring. These qualities, represented by the traits listed as numbers 6 to 10 above, include empathy, the ability to withhold judgment, effective listening skills, and the ability to offer support in good times and bad.
- Traits of Congeniality. This group, representing by the final three traits listed above, includes self-confidence, the ability to see the humor in life, and being fun to be around.
Launched in Oct 2022, the Friends of SLS initiative recognises educators who have significantly contributed to the SLS fraternity over the last few years. In 2023, we also welcomed teachers who have significantly impacted their students’ engagement and learning experience through their use of SLS.
