Purificata (Daliah Lavi), a young peasant living in a small village in Southern Italy, is considered a witch by the locals; incurring this way into their wrath - up to a point where she is condemned to a terrible sentence as a punishment to her supposedly evil deeds.
Il Demonio is an early 60's black and white folk-horror flick that'll strike your skull with a scythe thanks to a frighteningly powerful depiction of hysteria. Purif is obsessed with Antonio but he resists her at every turn, leading her to trick him into drinking wine containing her own blood.
