When a Stranger Calls (1979) Jill Johnson, a young high school student works as a babysitter for a wealthy family. One night as she's caring for their kids, a caller begins to make strange prank calls which progresses into threatening statements towards the children.
A babysitter is tormented by a series of ominous phone calls until a compulsive cop is brought on the scene to apprehend the psychotic killer. Seven years later, however, the nightmare begins again when the madman returns to mercilessly haunt her.
After she tucks the children snugly into bed upstairs, phone calls from a stranger start to disrupt her quiet evening of study. At first the unidentified caller says nothing and Jill thinks an acquaintance is playing a prank.
A retired police detective (Charles Durning) hunts a deranged British seaman out to re-create a baby sitter's (Carol Kane) horror.
