Sharpe's Siege is the eighteenth historical novel in the Richard Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell, first published in 1987. The story is set on the Atlantic coast of France in the Napoleonic wars during the British Invasion of France in 1814.

May 8, 1996 · Sharpe (Sean Bean) marries his sweetheart Jane but, before the honeymoon is over, has to leave on a perilous mission to capture a French fort high in the Pyrenees. While he is away, Jane catches a deadly fever which is sweeping through the British camp.
