While touring with a dance troupe in 1892, Millicent Hopkins meets Clive Loring who is campaigning for Parliament in the English Midlands. They fall in love and Millie remains behind at her father's home while her friend Rose Bridges and the rest of the company go to London.
The Imperfect Lady was the last released film of long-time character actor Miles Mander, who died in February 1946. Mander also appeared in the 1946 Columbia film The Walls Came Tumbling Down (see below), which was shot at approximately the same time as The Imperfect Lady , but was released earlier.
The Imperfect Lady (1946) This is a surprisingly interesting thriller set in the Oscar Wilde world of 1892 with cheap theatres, ballets and dancers having a hard time in contrast to the highest levels of society with particular aristocrats being careful about not getting contaminated by scandals, which they can't avoid.
