Siblings Tommy and Annika Settergren have fun with their friend Pippi Longstocking at her house Villa Villekulla, until they lose track of time and are greeted at home by their bossy parents, who address them before they angrily run off to bed.
Pippi Longstocking, Tommy, and Annika all decide to run away from home. They start out riding on Pippi’s horse, but the horse is frightened by a thunderstorm and gallops away, leaving them to walk. They encounter a pedlar, farmers, and townsfolk who turn them in to the police as runaways.
