The Hatter's Ghost (French: "Les fantômes du chapelier") is a 1982 French crime film directed by Claude Chabrol. It is based on the 1947 story Le Petit Tailleur et le Chapelier by Georges Simenon. It takes place in Brittany and was shot in the towns of Concarneau and Quimper.
In a small French village, a serial killer is murdering women with seemingly no pattern. The respectable hatter Labbé (Michel Serrault) lives quietly with his invalid wife who never goes out in public. The tailor Kachoudas (Charles Aznavour) across the way is fascinated by the hatter and becomes a silent witness to the hatters hidden dark side.
