Emmy Award winner Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio in "General Hospital") stars as a young aspiring dancer whose life is threatened by anorexia in "Dying to Dance," an NBC world premiere movie. Also starring are Mary-Margaret Humes (Gail Leery in "Dawson's Creek") and recording star Rick Springfield (the NBC show "Suddenly Susan").
Dying to Dance, a 2001 made-for-television movie, offers a sobering look at the pressures and challenges faced by aspiring ballet dancers. The film follows Alyssa, portrayed by Kimberly McCullough, as she battles an eating disorder fueled by the demands of her rigorous training and the harsh expectations of the dance world.
When one of the characters dies as a result of an eating disorder you see the women in the movie quietly trying to make the men see their point of view. The former prima ballerina tries to encourage the stop of letting dancers with eating disorders dance in the school and company.
