A pre-production news item in Film Daily stated that the film was originally to be entitled Madame Houdini Speaks. News items in Hollywood Reporter noted that the film was shot at the Grand National Studios and was to open in Buffalo, NY on July 7, 1938 under the title Religious Racketeers.
