Eustace Edgehill (Ian Holm) is one of life's losers and with Dorrie, his wife of 18 years, he is on the verge of returning to England from one of the fictitious Samolan islands Coward created and featured in his one novel, several stories and plays.
Once upon a time, Ian Holm's Edgehill was a sailor of sorts, but when it comes to shore life he is all at sea, the type prone to doggedly venture upon that most arch folly of a pineapple plantation. His tail between his legs, man and wife (Judi Dench) already hold their tickets home to England.
