Seven Against Thebes by Aeschylus. The third play in a Theban trilogy dealing with the devastating effects of the curse of Oedipus, Aeschylus’ Seven Against Thebes was first performed in 467 BC at the City Dionysia where it won the first prize for tragedy.
The story of Seven Against Thebes is one of the plays that were written by the great tragedian Aeschylus. It is the story of the war the broke out after Oedipus was exiled from the city of Thebes, and his sons Eteocles and Polynices ascended to the throne.
