The Marines Who Never Returned (Korean: 돌아오지 않는 해병; RR: Doraoji anneun haebyong; aka Marines Are Gone) is a 1963 South Korean film directed by Lee Man-hee. It was released in the U.S. in 1966 as Marine Battleground. For this film, Lee was given the Best Director award at the third Grand Bell Awards ceremony in 1964.
Synopsis. During the Korean War (1950-1953), a marine squad marches north fighting off Chinese army. The marines die one after another. Among them are friends from a small village. Only one of them survives the Chinese attack. He is sent to a hospital where his fiancee, a nurse, is waiting for him.

Feb 20, 2020 · The Marines Who Never Returned is the first in The Korean Film Archive’s Lee Man-hee box set which comes with English subtitles on all four films as well as a bilingual booklet but the film is also currently available to stream via the Korean Film Archive’s YouTube channel.
