Jackie, daughter of widower John Leeds, an East African game warden, receives as a pet the small bushbaby Komba. As the Leedses board a ship to return to England, Jackie learns that she cannot take her pet. When she leaves the liner to restore the animal to its habitat, the ship departs without her.
