- If we’ve never initiated anything like this before, it’s normal for it to take more mental and/or physical energy than something we have. There’s a learning curve for almost every new thing we tackle.
- Although someone may offer expert advice on how to best handle what, personally, we lack experiential knowledge of, we aren’t yet ready to follow their recommendation, despite its promising to save time, energy—and possibly money, too.
- Pride prevents us from asking others for help or taking their suggestions. We don’t take advantage of others’ learning because we want to be given full credit for handling problems that, being a novice, are difficult for us.
- We might make carrying out a venture a lot more difficult because of our ambivalence about it. But it’s foolish to continue to do battle with ourselves if we’ve already determined that dealing with it would be good for us.
