Richard G. " Dik " Evans (born 1957) is an Irish musician. He is a co-founder and guitarist of the band Virgin Prunes, and a co-founder and early guitarist of the band that later became U2. He is the older brother of U2 guitarist The Edge .
Dik Evans played on ”Lite Fantastik" while 17-year-old Justin Kavanagh (aka Valley Limberg) from the Dublin hardcore band Mutant Asylum took the helm as guitarist for "Blossoms & Blood". In 1993, Kavanagh went on to form Gormenghast and Snifferdog with Ger Griffin.
Dik Evans was officially phased out of the band with a farewell concert at the Presbyterian Hall in Sutton on 4 March. During the show, which featured the group playing cover songs as the Hype, Dik ceremonially walked offstage.
Richard “Dik” Evans was a founding member of the Virgin Prunes and guitarist with the band from 1977 until 1984. He later formed Kid Sisters with singer Debbie Skhow. After a line up change they continued as Screech Owls (’88 – ’96).
