Dave Ball – better known in the music business as Taif, is recognised as one of Europe’s premier Bass players. Taif was born in Weston-Super-Mare, educated in Barry Boys Comprehensive School. And then went on to study at Leeds College of Music.
Eventually the band settled on Welsh bass player Dave "Taif" Ball, and played their first gigs in almost two years in December 1988.

At the most fitting of tributes to Jon Hiseman in Feb 2019, the remaining able players of Paraphernalia (Peter Lemer on keys, Dave ‘Taif’ Ball on bass and Billy on violin) were joined by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (or NYJO as they are commonly known) under the excellent leadership of Mark Armstrong.
