    John B. Shaffer III (born June 25, 1969), known professionally as Candyman, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He made his debut as a member of Fresh Reality and released the single "Car Hops" with the group in 1986. Shaffer was an affiliate of N.W.A during their early career and appears on the front cover of their album N.W.A. and the Posse (1987).

    Shaffer made his solo debut with the extended play Hip Hop Addict in 1989. Its song "Knockin' Boots" caught the attention of Epic Records and he signed to the label. Epic re-released "Knockin' Boots" as a single in 1990 and it entered the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100. Shaffer's debut studio album, Ain't No Shame in My Game, was released later that year and was certified gold in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His's second album, Playtime's Over, failed to chart and was his last album released by Epic.
