Conrad "Conny" Schnitzler (1937 – 4 August 2011) was a prolific German experimental musician associated with West Germany's 1970s krautrock movement. A co-founder of West Berlin's Zodiak Free Arts Lab, he was an early member of Tangerine Dream (1969–1970) and a founder of the band Kluster.

Conrad Schnitzler (17 March 1937 - 4 August 2011) was an institution in the German electronic music scene for thirty years. He studied with Joseph Beuys in the mid 1960’s, and in the late sixties joined the then fledgling German rock band Tangerine Dream.
Conrad Schnitzler (1937–2011) In the early 1960s, Conrad Schnitzler met Joseph Beuys in a bar in Düsseldorf. Beuys was at the start of his legendary run as a professor of ‘monumental sculpture’ at Düsseldorf’s Kunstakademie. Schnitzler was a sailor, who specialized in fixing the engines of merchant ships in nearby ports.
Conrad Schnitzler is a multi (inter) media German artist (photograph, cello player.). His first interest in music was orientated to krautrock radical musical experiences. After studies in modern art (Dusseldorf) under the direction of the fluxus artist & designer Joseph Beuys, Conrad went to Berlin and met Hans Joachim ROEDELIUS in 1967.

In the middle of the sixties, Conrad Schnitzler became something like the leading figure of experimental rock-music in West-Berlin. As a founding-member of both Kluster and Tangerine Dream, he was a maverick at breaking the traditions of Rock music.
