He died of a drug overdose in 1999, according to Curtis Management, and toxicology tests were conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The band permanently dissolved in 1999 following the death of bassist John Baker Saunders from a drug overdose. Staley would also die from an overdose three years later. Martin and McCready have since made two short partial reunions, one in 2012 and one from 2014 to 2015.
