Mark Coyne (born November 19, 1962) is an American musician and one of the original members of the rock band the Flaming Lips. Coyne co-founded the group along with his brother Wayne in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1983. The original lineup of the Flaming Lips was Mark on lead vocals, Wayne on guitar, and Michael Ivins on bass.
Mark Coyne's tenure as the Flaming Lips' frontman was short-lived, but Wayne has led the band for more than 20 years, shepherding it through a shifting roster of bandmates and musical styles.
Mark Coyne holds a special place in Maroons folklore for his wholehearted Origin performances.

Coyne formed the Flaming Lips in 1983 with brother Mark singing lead, Michael Ivins on bass guitar, and Richard English on drums. Mark later left the band and Wayne assumed vocal duties. Wayne is the only constant member of the band since its founding. [6]
