Elizabeth, Lady Bernard (née Hall, formerly Nash) (baptised 21 February 1608 – 17 February 1670) was the granddaughter of the English poet, playwright and actor William Shakespeare. Despite two marriages, she had no children, and was his last surviving descendant.
Elizabeth Barnard. Elizabeth Hall was the daughter of Susanna and John Hall and the granddaughter of William Shakespeare . She was baptised at Holy Trinity Church on 21 February 1608. Elizabeth was raised in financial stability, even after the death of her grandfather when she was eight years old.
In a deed poll of 1653, appointing trustees for property in and around Stratford-upon-Avon, a forty-five-year-old woman referred to her ‘grandfather’. What lifts this mundane business transaction above the ordinary is the fact that the woman was Shakespeare's granddaughter Elizabeth Barnard, née Hall.

In the summer of 1642 Civil War was imminent. During the period before the Battle of Edgehill (23 October) New Place ‘played host’ to fourteen prominent Parliamentarian officers including Lord Brooke, military commander of Warwickshire and Staffordshire and arch Puritan. They stayed for ‘9 or 10 nights and dayes’.
