Fort Street High School ( FSHS) is a government-funded co-educational academically selective secondary day school, located in Petersham, an inner western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1849, it is the oldest government high school in Australia and, notably, the first school not founded by a religious organisation.
Fort Street High School is an academically selective coeducational secondary school. Entry is competitive and based on academic merit. There is a maximum enrolment of 150 students in each of Years 7-10. There are between 160 and 170 students in each of Years 11 and 12.

Jan 20, 2022 · The Fort Street High pupil was one of 48 students in NSW to achieve the highest-possible ATAR of 99.95 after one of the most challenging HSC years in history. But instead of leaving his final year behind, the four-unit maths whiz has been doing a question a day to keep the subject fresh in his mind.
