Bangor Grammar School (The Grammar or B.G.S.), is a Northern Irish voluntary grammar school for boys in Bangor, County Down. It was founded in 1856 by the Conservative politician Robert Ward [2] and is one of eight Northern Irish schools represented on the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference .
Achievements. The success of the department can be seen not only in the enjoyment of the boys themselves but in the results that they achieve. The results of the department continue on an upward trend not only against our own historical figures but against those for boys in grammar schools in Northern Ireland.
Bangor Grammar School today exists to provide for the boys of the greater Bangor area the best in modern grammar school education. The easy accessibility and proximity to home allows the boys to engage in the wide range of valuable extra-curricular activities.
At Bangor Grammar School, students study a broad mixture of British, Irish, European and world history. There is a strong focus on the development of critical thinking and communication skills.
The Academic Curriculum. The Board of Governors of Bangor Grammar School ensures that the academic curriculum provided meets the requirements of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. In addition, it aims to enrich this provision by the inclusion of additional subjects where possible.
