Outspoken 71-year-old Irish expatriate Francis "Pop" Cavanaugh is the glue holding together his tightly-knit, yet constantly bickering, clan, who mostly all reside in the same house in a middle-class neighborhood in South Boston.
Showgirl Kit Cavanaugh moves back to Boston after her brother Chuck is widowed. Clashing with her estranged dad Francis, she focuses on her nephews--priest Chuck Jr. and twins Kevin and John--plus shy niece Mary Margaret.
