About Ambrosius, who was born in 1617 to Jan Brueghel the Elder, little more is known than that he was active in Antwerp until his death in 1675, initially, perhaps, together with his half- brother Jan Brueghel the Younger, who may also be held responsible for a major part in Ambrosius' training as a painter.
