Founded in 1920 by Mr Shi Su and originally known as ‘The Chinese Industrial and Commercial Continuation School’, Gongshang Primary School is an institution deeply rooted in history and committed to nurturing active learners, confident leaders, and gracious citizens.
School Crest. The ball with the Chinese characters ‘Gongshang’ symbolizes acquisition of an all-round education. The curved banner with the name of the school in English symbolizes the acquisition of knowledge for progress in life.

Gongshang Primary School was plagued by financial difficulties in the early stage of its development. Many a time, it faced the threat of closure. And each time it was Mr Lin Muqun’s resourcefulness, perseverance and commitment to the cause that saved the day.

Gongshang Primary School was established as The Chinese Industrial and Commercial Continuation School in January 1920 by Mr Shi Su as a night school at 267 Tanjong Pagar Road.
