Adnan bin Saidi was born at Kajang, Selangor in 1915 along the western Malay coast. During the Battle of Singapore, he led a 42-men platoon in a fierce defense of Pasir Panjang Ridge between 12 and 14 Feb 1942 despite being out-gunned by Japanese artillery.
