May 23, 2024 · Jungfraujoch is the location of the highest train station in Europe. Construction of the railway began in 1896 and was all done by manual labor: pick axes, shovels, and human labor. It took sixteen years to complete the railway, officially opening in 1912.
First, it has the highest railway station in the world, also its Aletsch Glacier is not only the biggest glacier in the Alps but a UNESCO World Heritage too. We took the Eiger Express gondola from Grindelwald Terminal to Eiger Glacier and then continued with the Jungfraujoch railway.
