Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is a post-secondary education institution and statutory board under the purview of the Ministry of Education in Singapore. Established in 1954, SP is the first and oldest polytechnic in Singapore, and is renowned for its engineering programmes.

Get Directions. Singapore Polytechnic at Dover Road was built on the site of the previous Princess Mary Barracks, which was occupied by the British and Malayan soldiers from 1951 to the early 1970s. The construction of the school campus began in 1974 and was completed four years later in 1978.

Established as an autonomous body on 27 October 1954, the polytechnic was set to train manpower needed for Singapore’s industries.
