Bras Basah MRT station lies in the heart of the Historic Civic District in Singapore. As such, one of the design requirements during the international design competition was that the station should not block the Singapore Art Museum.

Bras Basah (CC2) is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle Line. It is the second deepest station with a depth of 35m below ground level. It also houses the longest escalator, at 41 m which stretches from the ticket concourse to the transfer level and takes approximately one minute to travel.
The design of the Bras Basah MRT Station resolves the conflicting requirements of bringing daylight into a deep underground train station, and providing civic landscaping and open space at ground level.
