L'Hospitalet de Llobregat isn’t a beautiful city. It’s a "bedroom town" southwest of Barcelona. It's the second biggest in Catalonia by population. It's important for being one of the most dense cities in Spain and also in the European Union.
Sant Josep is OK. Areas to avoid in L'Hospitalet are La Florida, Torrassa, Gornal and Bellvitge. Centre and Sant Josep are fine, quite safe to be honest. There are much more dangerous places in Barcelona yet people consider them "trendy" and move there.
