Occupying almost nine Hectares of land, Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) is fortunate to have our premises located in rural Pulau Ubin, an island northeast of mainland Singapore. Rich in natural flora and fauna, and surrounded by the coastal sea, the island presents an ideal environment for outdoor education.
Outward Bound was developed in 1941 by a German educator Kurt Hahn. The first Outward Bound School was established in the town of Aberdovey located in Wales. The first Outward Bound course was designed to toughen up and train young sea merchants from the Blue Funnel Line. (Grade 9)
In line with the COVID-19 restrictions, Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) revamped and relaunched the MOE-OBS Challenge (MOC) Programme earlier this year to a 2-day non-residential “2021 MOC Programme”.

Why become an Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) Instructor? For many of us, a high-paying job in the finance sector would be incentive enough to slog away despite its tough and competitive nature. And for close to 10 years, 34-year-old Shane was just like that.
As an OBS Instructor, you will coach our youth and help them discover their strengths and leadership potential through a rigorous outdoor education experience. You will lead expeditions across land and sea, motivating our youth to persevere and work as a team.
The pinnacle of an Outward Bound course – to complete and tackle the expeditionary challenges! Students experience at least one expedition – either land or water based. Before they embark on any expedition, they learn to plan an expedition, read a map and compass, and make decisions together with other teams.
A Rite of Passage, A Shared Experience. The MOE-OBS Challenge (MOC) programme offers a unique opportunity for the Secondary Three Students. As part of the National Outdoor Adventure Education Masterplan, the MOC programme seeks to develop ruggedness, resilience and build cohesion amongst youths.
