Wouldn't it be nice if schools held beauty competitions, and if the winners carried the title "school belle", and if one of the symbolic duties of these winners were to ring the school bells?

I have often wondered how the French distinguish between the belle-mère that is your stepmother and the one who is your mother-in-law. If you are an adult, and you had a stepmother and a mother-in-law, wouldn't this get confusing?
