Jönköping (/ ˈ j ɜː n (t) ʃ ɜː p ɪ ŋ /, Swedish: [ˈjœ̂nːˌɕøːpɪŋ] ⓘ) is a city in southern Sweden with 112,766 inhabitants (2022). Jönköping is situated on the southern shore of Sweden's second largest lake, Vättern, in the province of Småland.

Jönköping, city and capital of the län (county) of Jönköping, southern Sweden. It lies at the southern end of Lake Vätter and on the shores of Munk Lake and Rock Lake. In 1283 Franciscan monks built a monastery on this site, and the following year the town was chartered.
