Aug 16, 2023 · Whitney Houston: I Wanna dance with Somebody Just finished watching this movie and I don't know how to feel about it. Part of me feels like it seems to be a documentary with added dramatic inserts, but then it was very well produced and well acted.
Sep 11, 2020 · Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody [Pop] (1987) I was a metalhead growing up in this era. Still had a crush on Whitney. Classic...makes me wanna get up and dance with somebody . I hated this because, despite the lyrics, she's the one who dances least in the whole video. I love 80s music.

Her mother was a female Joe Jackson that later resented Houston’s career success exceeded her own (background singer for Elvis & Aretha).
Dec 21, 2022 · This is about what I expected out of this movie. Super strong performance by Naomi Ackie as Whitney Houston, but mostly a bland biopic. Audiences will love it much like they did Bohemian Rhapsody, which got similar scores (so far) 11.

Dec 2, 2023 · For pre-1980 or so TV shows -- but not the usual Lucy or *Gunsmoke* reruns. This subreddit is for the ephemeral TV programs of the pre-VCR era -- the stuff no one ever expected to see again: newscasts, local kiddie shows and horror movie hosts, live TV dramas, game shows, soap operas, teen dance parties... Oh, and kinescopes.

I can deal with it if it's formulaic, but I really don't like the idea of her story getting the Bohemian Rhapsody treatment of artistic liberties, falsities, fake positivity, and diminishing the real-world struggles for a more easily-digestible film.
