Very pretty park. Jul 2020 • Couples. My wife and I camped for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The sites are ample and there are options for water views. Pros: great hiking trails, nicely managed park, quiet, fairly clean bathrooms, interesting historical display in gift shop.

The park has a total of 88 camp sites, including both primitive and water and electric sites. Some campsites are situated close to the lake. Campsites are located within the parks two campgrounds, campground B and C (A was closed several years ago).
Occoneechee State Park sits on the northern shore of the lake, near where the Occoneechee Indians once lived. The park plays an important role in the culture of the surviving Occoneechee and regularly hosts traditional ceremonies.
