Lucy Goes to Sun Valley is the fifth episode of the first season of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. It first aired 14 April 1958 on CBS.
Tired of being second in Ricky's life, Lucy drags Ethel to a ski resort on the second Ricardo's honeymoon and succeeds at enraging Ricky's short temper with extreme jealousy with Fernando Lamas.
The Ricardos plan to spend their second honeymoon in Sun Valley, Idaho. Ricky learns that he is to appear with Fred and Little Ricky on a TV show and cancels the vacation. Lucy and Ethel decide to go by themselves. There they meet Fernando Lamas, who is staying at the same lodge.
She schemes to make Ricky jealous by having Ethel take a picture of them skiing together and hinting that they have been seeing a lot of each other. While Ethel focuses the camera, Lucy leans forward a little too far, and she and Fernando slide down the ski slope with her riding piggyback on his shoulders. Fernando lands in a tree and breaks two ribs. Ricky is not fooled.
Fred and Ricky are lonely without their wives, however, and rush to Sun Valley anyway. Lucy is furious that Ricky didn't believe her and rejects her husband's affection. Ricky, Ethel, and Fred each interrupt Lamas' shower to ask him to flirt with Lucy at an afternoon skating party so Ricky can feign jealousy and convince Lucy that he loves her. Unfortunately, Lamas goes too far and Ricky loses his temper, and each gives the other a black eye.
The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour is a collection of thirteen black-and-white one-hour specials airing occasionally from 1957 to 1960 (as opposed to the thirty-minute regular series, I Love Lucy). The first five were shown as specials during the 1957–58 television season.
