Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) is one of the longest serving and largest multi-disciplinary hospitals in Singapore. Recognised as the people’s hospital, the 10,000-strong institution operates over 2,000 beds and covers more than 60 clinical disciplines.
Jan 4, 2017 · Tan Tock Seng was born in Malacca in 1798, the third son of an immigrant father from Fujian province in China and a local Peranakan (Straits-born Chinese) mother. When he was 21, Tan boarded a ship that sailed south to Singapore in search of the proverbial fame and fortune.
In March 2003 when Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) struck in Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital was designated as the screening and treatment centre for SARS. Today, the hospital continues to research on emerging infectious diseases and find the best treatment for them.
