Hamilton (Scots: Hamiltoun; Scottish Gaelic: Baile Hamaltan [ˈpalə ˈhaməl̪ˠt̪ʰan]) is a large town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It serves as the main administrative centre of the South Lanarkshire council area.
Hamilton is a historic town at the head of the Clyde Valley in the heart of Lanarkshire. The town was once the fiefdom of the Dukes of Hamilton and the family constructed many landmarks in the town. Hamilton Mausoleum lies on the grounds of the now-demolished Hamilton Palace and is the resting place of the Hamilton family.
Hamilton lies in the heart of Lanarkshire, where the Clyde and Avon rivers meet at the head of the Clyde Valley's rich, agricultural lands. Hamilton is also the starting point on the Clyde Valley National Tourist Route heading south.

The scenery is outstanding and just a great place to visit.There is a market on some weekends and a cafe inside where the foods great the service i recieve in there is impeccablefrom all the staff but there two girls shona and kirsty they are brilliant at there job.I have been visiting here for 10 + years and will continue to do so .
