For example, have begun, have run, have strung. Exceptions like "have come" came about due to loss of the -en suffix (compare to German "habe gekommen" which still has it).

  7. Apr 9, 2010 · The "I have not a" expression, while probably correct gramatically as Probus suggests, is simply not used. We use instead, "I don't have a" or - perhaps more poetically, "I have no". I could say, "I have no reason to do this," or "I have no car to drive there."

However, 'I have not to do it' doesn't contract to 'I don't have to do it'; you are changing the verb order here and 'do' is the main verb, not the auxiliary (as in 'I don't have to'.
