   Sep 19, 2024 · The idiom used to be “*make* a pass at”, not “*take” a pass at”, as I remember it from very long ago. Nowadays, I would say “I’ll take a pass [on]” if I want to skip the activity. To me, that means much the same as taking a “raincheck”. IOW, postpone until later (which may never come).
