    • He Acts Better Than Everyone Else. He probably goes around telling everyone about all of his “great” accomplishments. He wants people to think he is better than they are, and that includes you – especially you.
    • He Doesn’t Listen to Your Opinion. Whether it’s something simple like what you want to do on a Saturday night or something major like which house to buy, your narcissistic husband probably doesn’t really listen to your opinion.
    • He Needs to Be Right Every Time. He thinks he knows everything. You could tell him that 2 + 2 = 4, but he would argue with you and say, “No, 2 + 2 = 5.”
    • He Controls You. Maybe you put on some new jeans and he says, “You can’t go out of the house in those because they are too tight.” Or if you want to go out with your friends, he tells you that you can’t.
    • You Don’t Feel Connected to Them. One of the foundational diagnostic criteria for NPD is a lack of empathy. Human beings connect emotionally by feeling seen, heard, and understood by others, which is at the core of empathy.
    • You Are Gaslighted by Them. People with narcissism often gaslight their partners, which is the act of invalidating another person’s experience in order to make one question its authenticity.
    • They Love Bomb You. Love bombing is when someone bombards their partner with affection; strong emotions; and gifts of time, energy, or things. A narcissist uses love bombing to build a facade of intimacy and trust, so their partner will stay in the relationship.
    • They Hold Grudges. When a narcissist feels as though they have been slighted or insulted, all of their insecurities and deepest fears are realized. They cannot process, understand, or release internalized pain in a healthy way, so they often hold grudges and seek revenge in the future.
    • When something goes wrong, does your partner blame everyone but himself or herself?
    • Does your partner refuse to be accountable for his or her bad behavior? (For example, “You made me so mad that I couldn’t help ... ”)
    • Does your partner believe he or she is always right?
    • Is your partner unable to tune in to your feelings or your children’s feelings?
