SAL provides service for the legalisation of documents. From 16 September 2021, SAL will affix an Apostille Certificate on every document which requires legalisation. Members of the public who require legalisation service will have to submit an online request and make payment online.
Legalisation. Introduction. Legalisation is a process of document authentication observed by international governments. If you intend to use a document overseas then local authorities may require it to be legalised before it can be considered valid.
All documents that require notarisation by a Notary Public in Singapore will have to be authenticated by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). With effect from 16 September 2021, a Notarial Certificate shall be deemed to be validly authenticated by the affixing of an Apostille to the back of the Notarial Certificate.

Sep 20, 2019 · This follows changes to the Singapore Academy of Law (Amendment) Rules 2019 and the Notaries Public (Amendment) Rules 2019, which take effect that day. The revised procedure will strengthen document integrity and prevent cases of fraudulent notarial and authentication certificates.
