Visiting Parliament House. Sitting Day. Proceedings of Parliament are open to the public, except for certain occasions such as the Opening of Parliament. The dates of Parliament sittings are announced through the media and our website. Sittings will usually commence at 1.30 pm and continue until Parliament adjourns.
The Arts House (also known as the Old Parliament House) is where the Singapore Parliament used to sit. Located at Empress Place, it was originally built as a residence in 1827.

Mar 13, 2024 · Parliament House. In October 1999, Parliament House was officially opened. It occupies 2.2 hectares of land with a built-up area of 19,765 square metres. It comprises three blocks and a restored colonial building.
The Parliament of Singapore is unicameral – all Members of Parliament (MPs) make up a single chamber, and there is no senate or upper house. At present, the effect of the Constitution of Singapore and other legislation is that there can be a maximum of 105 MPs.
The Former Parliament House is likely to be the oldest surviving building in Singapore. It bears testimony to Singapore’s colonial history and played an important political function in the country’s post-independence years.
