SP Group is the corporatised entity of the former electricity and gas departments of the Public Utilities Board (PUB). SP Group was first incorporated as a commercial entity on 1 October 1995 as Singapore Power and Gas to take over the electricity and gas businesses of the state provider, PUB.
The Smart Grid Index (SGI) is a simple and quantifiable framework that measures smartness of power grids globally, in seven key dimensions. The framework assesses proxies of each dimension using publicly available information.
Electricity tariffs are regulated by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and revised quarterly to reflect the actual cost of electricity. SP Services buys electricity on behalf of customers and pays the generation companies, transmission licensee and other market players based on the rates of the cost components as approved by EMA.
While Singapore has limited renewable energy resources, we are able to access low-carbon electricity that is abundant in the region by connecting to regional power grids. This also promotes the development of renewable energy in the region and paves the way in realising the ASEAN Power Grid vision.
