Chirk (Welsh: Y Waun) is a town and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, 10 miles (16 kilometres) south of Wrexham, between it and Oswestry. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 4,468. [1]

Closed Mondays. Closed Tuesdays except Jul-Aug. Limited weekend only opening in winter. This magnificent late-13th century castle is the last of its era in Wales still to be lived in. Look out for the imposing wrought iron gates.
