Dec 17, 2020 · Galt is one of those charming spots, located in Cambridge. Obviously, it’s not the same as being in Europe, but it will make you feel close enough. It’s a super rustic town unlike any other I’ve been to in Ontario. The downtown core of Galt is picturesque and filled with things to do.
The new 500 seat Dunfield Theatre, part of the Drayton Entertainment Group, sits beside the restored 19th century South Works outlet shops. Both worth a visit. Lots of history, good little restaurants downtown and a pleasant place to stroll along the river. All in all a great place or a days outing.

Nov 9, 2009 · Galt was a centre of Scottish settlement in Upper Canada. The first macadamized road in Upper Canada linked it to Hamilton in 1837. The Grand River provided abundant waterpower and during the 19th century Galt was a significant manufacturing centre.

Galt is a beautiful quaint little area of Cambridge with many historical buildings, churches and a few shops to look around. The river is absolutely beautiful however Galt houses many homeless and shelters, addictions centers and safe injection sites.
