The population was 5,929 at the 2020 census. It was named after José de Salamanca, a Spanish nobleman and cabinet minister of the mid-19th century.

Get Tickets. Beautiful State park in Cattaraugus County, Salamanca, NY. I visited the park on a weekend in Mid-October, too early for the fall foliage peak show. However, the rain and cold misty morning with patches of Sun breaking through the clouds gave the scenery a magical enchanted aura.
