Nov 20, 2018 · TLDR: Dramabeans was financially struggling to stay afloat. Javabeans and girlfriday had to find full time jobs and work on the site part time. They were looking for an investor and so could not explain the issue til now. They have found a buyer but did not specify who. Javabeans was explicit that it was not beautytap.
I don't have any problem with Dramabeans lately. Only semi related but I find a lot of the recappers comments boring now.. they used to say funny things or reflect a bit while they write the recap. Now half of them are just posting the dialogue they copy pasted from the subs. Its not useful to read the recaps anymore.

Jan 14, 2020 · In order to keep Dramabeans running, we made the choice to step back (quite honestly, it couldn’t pay our salaries and we had to find new ones) and hand over the reins, which was a bittersweet decision but one we don’t regret. Because after 12 years, it would have hurt a lot more to turn off the lights and let the site fade into memories.

I haven't found any sites that do it on the scale that Dramabeans does. Usually if you google the 'show episode recap' it pulls up a blog that has recapped it.
