“ I install cinema equipment, not surveillance! ” — Ferdinand to Karen Daniels. Kerimov lives in Morningwood, Los Santos, with his family and works as a home theatre technician. His clients include a neighbor of Michael De Santa on Caesars Place in Rockford Hills; and Tahir Javan, a businessman with a house in Chumash. At some point, Tahir and Ferdinand became friends on Lifeinvader.

“ I know Azerbaijanis. Kyrgystanis. Tajikistanis. Whatever you want, huh? ” — Ferdinand to Trevor and Steve Haines. In 2013, both the Federal Investigation Bureau and the International Affairs Agency are involved in a bureaucratic fight over which agency will receive more government funding. Believing Tahir is linked to terrorist organizations, Ferdinand is kidnapped due to his association with him. The IAA mistakenly believe him to be a jihadist and that the cinema equipment he was installing was actually for surveillance. His death is faked and for six weeks he is interrogated in the IAA Headquarters, where he is held as an intelligence asset. The FIB, seeing through the IAA's story that Ferdinand was killed and desperate to receive the government funding, begin working on a way to extract him. FIB agent Dave Norton subtly blackmails former bank robber Michael De Santa, whom he had prior dealings with, into helping him. Having intel stating that Ferdinand's body was being held at the Los Santos County Coroner Office, Dave knocks out Michael, who is believed to be dead and taken to the coroner's office for an autopsy. This allows him access to the building and when he wakes up, he finds the corpse claimed to be Ferdinand, but discovers it's a large African American woman. He calls Dave to inform him and escapes. Later on, Dave, agent Andreas Sanchez, and their boss Steve Haines come up with a plan to extract Ferdinand from the IAA headquarters by once again blackmailing Michael, but this time including his friend Franklin Clinton and former bank robbing partner Trevor Philips. Franklin is instructed to provide sniper cover from the nearby Arcadius Business Center while Michael repels down from a helicopter piloted by Trevor, breaks the window to the room where Ferdinand is held, and grabs him. As Ferdinand is being interrogated by IAA agent Karen Daniels, the FIB execute their plan and successfully extract him. Ferdinand is initially grateful but soon finds himself shoved into a trunk by an FIB agent. Ferdinand is taken to a warehouse in Banning with Dave and Haines, where the latter invites his friend Devin Weston to torture Ferdinand for his own personal amusement. Haines then orders Michael and Trevor to join them, who arrive as Weston is leaving. Desperate to get Ferdinand to tell him what he told the IAA in order to get the government funding first, Haines orders Trevor to torture Ferdinand to get him to reveal who he is working for, while Michael and Dave set off to kill the target provided. Ferdinand, confused due to him not actually being linked to any terrorists, initially provides the address of the house in Rockford Hills that he worked at. When Michael and Dave arrive, Michael recognizes it as where the show The Real Cunts of Suburbia is being filmed and determines its not who they're looking for. Dave calls Haines, who in-turn orders Trevor to torture Ferdinand. When Trevor is finished, Haines asks Ferdinand about Tahir Javan, to which he provides the address of his house in Chumash. When Michael and Dave travel there, they find that Tahir is having a house party, requiring Trevor to torture Ferdinand several more times over the course of a few hours in order to reveal the description of Tahir. When Michael is satisfied with the information provided and is able to pick Tahir out of the crowd, he assassinates him with a sniper rifle. Afterwards, Haines orders Trevor to kill Ferdinand, claiming that he will no longer be useful. Trevor decides instead to let him live, because he doesn't like taking orders from government officials, and also because he believes Ferdinand must "deliver a message" about the pointlessness of torture, stating the torture only 'works' for the torturer's amusement or if the torturee gets off on it. He drives Ferdinand to the airport, ignoring his complaints about his poor health and wanting to see his family again, and tells him to fly out of the country. Once dropped off at the airport, Ferdinand attempts to run away. Instead of entering the airport terminal, he stumbles at the top of a flight of stairs that lead down to the entry to the airport LST station and immediately disappears. If his tooth was pulled out by Trevor during the torture session, it will appear in Floyd's Apartment along with the pliers used to pull it out, and can be seen until Trevor flees the city after kidnapping Martin Madrazo's wife.
•Ferdinand's ordeal is likely inspired by that of Murat Kurnaz. Kurnaz was a Turkish-German student who was captured by Pakistani police in 2001 while travelling and handed over to the United States under false suspicion of supporting the Taliban.
